Documentaries, commercials, reality, live events, motion graphics, music videos, web content, and more. My greatest creative passion is turning beautiful footage captured by talented artists into films of any length that are always more than the sum of their parts.
Below are samples of my best work. I look forward to taking your ideas for a ride!
Titleist: We Go Farther
Editor – Production Company: Wolvvs
A four-part documentary series about the development of Titleist's newest driver, the TSR. This was a ton of fun to cut! Titleist is known for the ultra-polished visuals of its advertising, and getting to go back and use all of their content from prior years was a real treat. More than just a marketing video, "We Go Farther" was a kind of mea culpa, an honest assessment from the brand about its shortcomings, and the on-going project it undertook to remedy them. The original plan was just to put these on Titleist's Youtube page (where it has over 14 million views), but when executives from Golf Channel saw it they were so impressed they decided to air it on TV during the spring when golf viewership is kicking into high gear.
Netflix: Chef's Table Pizza
Editor – Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
The original Netflix docuseries returns for its 8th season to elevate the art of pizza-making to new heights. I edited the episode featuring Franco Pepe, a complicated man in a small village in the Italian countryside who makes what legendary food critic Jonathan Gold called "the greatest pizza in the world." Watching Franco craft his handmade dough inspired me to learn to make my own pizzas from scratch, an obsession that's occasionally had me daydreaming of hanging up my editing gloves to open my own pizzeria (just kidding... kind of).
In addition to the Franco Pepe episode, I had the honor of cutting the iconic main title sequence that runs in each of the episodes this season.
Showtime: We Need to Talk About Cosby
Editor – Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
2022 Emmy Nominee - Best Documentary Series, Outstanding Picture Editing
The Celebrity True Crime genre has become bigger than anyone would have hoped, but none deal with a subject as complicated as Bill Cosby. Few have done so much to uplift so many and transcend boundaries, and surely none of them have committed such heinous and predatory acts in the process. I worked on the premiere episode of this important series, directed by comedian and Emmy-winner W. Kamau Bell. Telling Cosby's story, and that of those who were assaulted by him, was a challenge that required personal and professional growth. I'm proud to have been a part of this one.
Starz: Men In Kilts
Editor — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
Featuring Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish (best known for their roles on the hit series "Outlander") Men in Kilts takes viewers on a road trip across Scotland, let by the only two lads who could handle being in a van with one another. Editing two episodes during Covid quarantine was a nice opportunity for me to explore a beautiful part of the world through my work when circumstances wouldn't allow for the real thing.
YouTube: David Blaine Ascension
Editor — Production Company: Done & Dusted
Every kid dreams of grabbing onto a bunch of balloons and taking off into the wild blue yonder. David Blaine decided to make that dream a reality, and it became YouTube's biggest livestream ever. In the midst of a pandemic, when the world needed some positive, beautiful inspiration, it was a pleasure to help edit the packages showing how David and his team brought this stunt to life. This one tracks David going from novice skydiver to professional certification in less than a year.
Netflix: Chef's Table BBQ
Editor — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
Chef's Table BBQ takes the iconic, James Beard award-winning series in a fresh direction, focusing on chefs who have mastered the art of cooking with fire. Some cook for people in their homes, others slow cook meat in massive, scorching BBQ pits. My episode features Lennox Hastie, who has combined the refined culinary experience of the Michelin world with the raw, primal style of cooking everything — even the salads — over wood-burning fires. Firedoor (his restaurant in Sydney, Australia) is famous for having no gas or electric cooking surfaces, and his obsession with the craft will definitely make you want to build a campfire and throw some meat on the grill.
Netflix: Home Game
Editor — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
Home Game follows the most unique and dangerous sports from around the world while diving deep into the communities and cultures where they thrive.
I edited two episodes of the series: "Calcio Storico," the series premiere, features a violent Italian ball sport, kind of like a game of rugby but with 15 MMA fights taking place all around the pitch. "Catch Fetiche," is a form of professional wrestling in the Democratic Republic of Congo that blends athleticism with deeply held cultural and spiritual beliefs. Voodoo Wrestling, for short.
With the world on hold due to Covid-19, Home Game provided a welcome diversion for fans of sport, travel, and storytelling.
Netflix: Street Food Latin America
Editor, Additional Music Composition — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
The James Beard award-nominated series returns for six new stories across Latin America. My episodes this season featured chefs in Argentina and Peru. For the episode in Lima, Peru, I built an opening sequence with a percussion-driven music track created entirely from sounds recorded in Chef Toshi's kitchen. My favorite sample was when the sound recordist bumped the boom mic just as a police car was going by, creating a bass hit with a high rising tone.
Showtime: Action
Editor — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
I helped edit this four-part documentary series, which chronicles the 2018 Supreme Court decision to legalize sports gambling. "Action" tells the big picture story of legalization, and also provides a glimpse into the lives of the major players in this high-stakes world. Though the big wins may seem glamorous, "Action" pulls no punches in exposing the potential pitfalls that come with legal gambling, for both individuals and the nation as a whole.
(Note: I worked on the series itself, not this BTS video.)
Netflix: Street Food Asia
Editor — Production Company: Boardwalk Pictures
From the creators of "Chef's Table," "Street Food" eschews exclusive and expensive dining rooms in favor of shining a spotlight on a few the humble street chefs who feed the rest of the world. The series highlights flavors and traditions from all across Asia, while sharing the inspiring stories of the people who create those flavors and keep those traditions alive.
I was the exclusive editor on two episodes of this series — Taiwan and Indonesia — and was an additional editor on several more.
Lexus LS 500
Editor — Agency: Team One
Editing and Sound Design. One spot of many, profiling five feature sets of the new flagship luxury sedan. Videos were also versioned for various social media platforms, including vertical 16:9 which took advantage of the format by stacking multiple shots from the original spots.
Netflix: Fearless
Series Editor — Production Companies: Boardwalk Pictures & 25/7 Productions
2017 Sports Emmy nominee for Outstanding Long Form Editing
The greatest bull-riders in the world compete in the United States. Funny thing is, most of them are Brazilian cowboys. It was a thrill to tell their exhilarating and dangerous story, but also a great challenge as most of the dialogue was in Portuguese (which I don't speak). But after cutting multiple episodes, one does start to pick up a surprising amount.
Netflix: Ultimate Beastmaster
Series Editor — Production Company: 25/7 Productions
Some of the best athletes from around the world attempt to conquer the toughest obstacle course ever conceived. Worked on multiple episodes, in multiple languages (the show is localized for six different international regions, with a different set of hosts and competitors from each).
FYI: Padma's Late Night Bites
Editor - Production Companies: Boardwalk Pictures & IMG
A segment from a pilot I edited, featuring Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. Fueled by margaritas and exotic cuisine, Padma and her friend, comedian Mo Mandell, spend a night experiencing the late night food culture of New York City. Funny, provocative, and mostly delicious.
Nat Geo: Breakthrough
Editor — Production Company: Asylum Entertainment
Directed by Ron Howard, "The Age of Aging" gives viewers a glimpse at the future of medicine. Far from snake oil, research has shown that aging itself is a modifiable biological process, and that treating it may prevent all the diseases we associate with old age. The next step is convincing the world.
CBS: Victoria's Secret Swim Special
Editor — Production Company: Done And Dusted
In addition to editing several segments of the 2015 Victoria's Secret Swim Special on CBS, I cut this trailer and more than 20 other promotional pieces for TV and social media.
Golf Channel: Ginella's Journeys
Editor — Production Company: Latitude Films
A recurring travel segment on Golf Channel's morning show, Ginella's Journeys features golf destinations all over the country and the world, highlighting the best courses in the area and other activities from fine dining to jet-packing. In this installment, Matt travels to Benton Harbor, MI, to tell the story of a town beaten down by the loss of manufacturing industries, and how a new golf development completely rejuvenated the area in under a decade.
Some More Segments I Edited
CNN Heroes
Lead Package Editor — Production Company: Done And Dusted
2011 Peabody Award winner in the category of Public Service.
A truly positive and inspiring television event, CNN bills its Heroes program as "an awards show for people who actually deserve it." Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I led a small team of editors to tell the stories of all the award recipients. This film features Derrek Kayongo, a Ugandan refugee who recycles soap and provides it to impoverished regions across the world.
Spike: GT Academy
Series Editor — Production Company: Radical Media
Can accomplished gamers transition from Virtual to Reality? In its global GT Academy series, Nissan takes the country's best players of the popular Gran Turismo video game and puts them behind the wheel of actual race cars to compete for a real racing contract. I worked on three seasons of the show. In this excerpt, the hosts chase the contestants around the track in a modified SUV with a remote-controlled paintball gun mounted to the hood. Basically, it's the most fun thing ever created.
NBC: Justin Bieber — All Around the World
Editor — Production Company: Done And Dusted
One of the segments I edited from a two-part special which aired on NBC. "All Around The World" follows one of the world's biggest celebrities as he performs a free tour across Europe and North America to promote his upcoming album "Believe." When it aired, the show was the #1 trending topic on Twitter – despite going up against the NBA Finals.
